Training: Compassionately Talking About Abortion

North Care Women’s Clinic offers a free one hour training that will help individuals and the church develop a new mindset and language around the abortion issue. When we embrace a grace-centered approach, we become safe for women facing unintended pregnancy, create communities where both women and children can thrive, and women who have experienced abortion can heal.

Statistics say that 4 out of 10 women who have abortions attend church at least once a month, and only 16% of them talked to anyone in the church about it. This statistic is heartbreaking to hear, and we know this does not properly reflect the heart of the church. We know it is not because the church does not care, but perhaps because they lack the tools and language to connect with women considering an abortion decision. As a pregnancy clinic, we wanted to come alongside the church and offer some of our expertise from over 37 years of serving women in our local community facing unplanned and considering abortion. We came up with a 1 hour training that looks into how Jesus responded to those in sexual sin, why women have abortions, and how we as a church can compassionately talk about the topic of abortion and be a safe place for women. A hopeful statistic that we love at the clinic is that 86% of women facing unplanned pregnancies would choose to have their babies if just one person would support them. This training will help you know how to be that one person. Please consider joining us!

Check out some quotes from past participants of the training:

“[The training] was awesome and its message needs to be shared far and wide. The overarching message of the training can be life altering for both the woman and her child, but also for the world.”

“I thought the training was wonderful, full of information that I was not aware of. It really opened my eyes to see that people could be hurting and hiding all the pain of decisions made in the past. Talking about abortion is very hard because both sides are dug in so much and it’s such an emotional issue to talk about. Your training opened my eyes to have grace to those who have had abortions or are thinking about having abortions.”
